Cristiano Ronaldo Explains Why He Wants to Meet Donald Trump

Cristiano Ronaldo has high hopes to one day meet President Donald Trump.

“If the world is in peace, it’s our goal. He’s one of the guys that can change — or help to change — the world,” Ronaldo, 40, said on a Thursday, November 6, episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored. “This is my main goal.”

He continued, “[Donald] is one of the guys that I want to meet. I wish one day [to have that] opportunity.”

After host Piers Morgan offered to introduce Ronaldo and Trump, 79, the professional soccer star reiterated that he wants to “have a nice talk” with the sitting U.S. president.

Some royal watchers are convinced that President Donald Trump took a shot at Prince Harry during his recent state visit to the U.K. “I just want to say that His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales. Really amazing,” Trump, 79, said during his speech at the state […]

“I wish one day to meet him [and] sit with him because he’s one of the [people] that I really like,” Ronaldo said. “I think it can make things happen, and I like people like that.”

Without endorsing any political agendas, Ronaldo revealed that his potential meeting would revolve around peace talks.

“I wish that the world goes in a [peaceful] way,” Ronaldo said. “That’s what I’m looking for, and I will tell him something. Nobody knows this but, maybe one day, if [I] have the opportunity. I’m gonna sit with him and I’m going to tell him that we have something in common and something that we share.”

Ronaldo, however, declined to publicly share his apparent similarities to Trump just yet.

“Not in your interview, [but] I will tell him,” he quipped. “It’s very nice. You’re going to like. It’s fascinating [because] Cristiano is a worldwide man, now more than before [and when I was] 18, 19 [and] 20, I was there in U.S. so many times.”

Morgan, 60, pointed out that Ronaldo might already have an in because Trump’s youngest son, 19-year-old Barron, is a fan of Ronaldo’s athletic career.

“His son can come as well,” Ronaldo said of Donald’s only child with his current wife, Melania Trump. “We [can] do a debate. Who is the most famous in the world: me or Donald Trump?”

Ronaldo, meanwhile, quipped that he was “seriously” more famous than the president.

“I think worldwide, even in that small [country of] Iceland, they know me more,” Ronaldo theorized. “I think in the world, nobody’s more famous than me [in] this generation in 2025. … It’s a good debate. Let’s make that happen.”

According to Ronaldo, he believes that he’d win the debate since he can hardly go anywhere without being recognized by fans.

“It is what it is,” he said, discussing his relationship to fame. “It’s boring. It’s too much. I wish not to be so famous, really. It’s boring, trust me. I never wanted to be famous. I wanted to be successful, and I knew since the beginning that I would be a ‘star,’ but to be famous, I never wanted it.”

Closing out the interview, Morgan further noted that Ronaldo and Trump speaking together would undoubtedly be an “unbelievable” global moment.

“We can do something. Imagine, me, you, Mr. Trump on one table,” Ronaldo replied. “It would be fun [and] different. Imagine? Something beautiful, different [and a] good conversation.”

Ronaldo agreed to Morgan’s terms, adding that the TV host is “part of the family.”
