What Cote de Pablo Wants to See on NCIS: Tony and Ziva Season 2

Season 1 of NCIS: Tony & Ziva gave fans a glimpse at the start of Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David’s happily ever after — and actress Cote de Pablo already has thoughts about what should happen next.

While the Paramount+ series has not been renewed for a second season, de Pablo, 45, is ready for more. The actress, however, exclusively told Us Weekly that she’d like to see a different relationship take center stage in potential future episodes.

“I’d love to be able to do things that explore, for example, the strength of Tali and how she is so much like her mother and her father,” de Pablo said of her character Ziva and partner Tony’s (Michael Weatherly) daughter, Tali (Isla Gie). “I’d love to be able to polish that character a little bit more, to concentrate or to put our energies into that.”

While Ziva and Tony rekindled their relationship — and received Tali’s stamp of approval — during the Thursday, October 23, finale, de Pablo is more interested in seeing the female relationships gain traction for season 2.

She recalled during episode 6 where their nanny Sophie (Lara Rossi), who was former MI6, and Tali had such a strong bond after Sophie’s undisclosed past with Ziva. That mystery is one de Pablo wants to unravel.

“I kept on saying to myself, what happened between Ziva and Sophie that created this incredible loyalty? What was there that earned that kind of loyalty?” she explained. “I’d love to be able to somehow go into that and analyze that from a story point. There’s a lot of characters that are really good on the show, and I’d love to be able to explore their story lines, their quirks.”

De Pablo teased that “obviously” if there is a second season, fans will also have to see Tony and Ziva “get in trouble,” because that is in their DNA.

“I truly believe the past is always coming back and haunting them. And somehow that past is always bringing them back into something that they have to overcome,” she shared with Us. “They’re always constantly being tested, and they have to rise [and] rely on each other, trust in each other, and somehow, now, they’ve cultivated this family.”

Katrina Law’s dream collaboration includes Cote de Pablo reviving her NCIS character, Ziva David, and working alongside Jessica Knight. “I think if Ziva came back and we got a good couple of scenes together, I would be beyond stoked,” Law, 38, exclusively told Us Weekly, noting that “Tiva,” a.k.a. Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva […]

During the season 1 finale, Tony and Ziva managed to clear their names with Interpol after being framed for corrupt agent Jonah’s (Julian Ovenden) crimes. Outside of the case, they decided to give their love another shot.

To jumpstart their romance, Ziva gave Tony a framed picture of his late friend Henry (James D’Arcy), who died while trying to help their family earlier in the season.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva brings NCIS alums Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David back into limelight — but what have they been up to since leaving the Washington, D.C., office? During the series premiere in September, fans were transported to modern times where Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) are coparenting their daughter, Tali […]

“Just when I thought I couldn’t love you any more you go and pull a stunt like that,” Tony told Ziva, who replied, “You hang in there, big daddy, there’s more where that came from.”

The couple then shared a passionate kiss as a montage of their romantic moments throughout the season replayed.

The episode ended on a happy note, and if de Pablo has it her way, those good times will continue with another season.

“Michael and I would love to do it, but it’s not up to us,” de Pablo teased, telling Us, “At this point, really, it’s about the fans.”

NCIS: Tony & Ziva is now streaming on Paramount+.
