Flip Off Finale Recap: Christina Haack’s Ex Josh Hall Pitched as Judge

Just because Christina Haack‘s estranged husband, Josh Hall, left The Flip Off one episode in doesn’t mean his name didn’t come up when discussing potential judges.

During the Wednesday, March 5, finale, Heather El Moussa asked whether Christina, 41, chose her judge yet, to which she replied, “I haven’t picked him yet. Maybe it is a him. I haven’t gotten a yes yet.”

Heather, 37, subsequently joked that Christina “should bring Josh back,” but Christina wasn’t as interested in reuniting with her ex on the hit HGTV series. Instead, Christina’s dream judge Jeff Lewis made an appearance and asked her about her personal life.

“You [and Josh] weren’t aligned,” Jeff noted about Christina and Josh’s journey as professional and personal partners. “Obviously you are a very attractive and successful woman, I am sure you are going to date a lot. But do we have to marry them all?”

Christina reassured Jeff that there would be “no more marriages.” Despite the promise, Jeff still poked fun when she called later in the episode with good news.

“You got married again,” he quipped, to which Christina said, “That would not be good news.”

Before The Flip Off, Christina got her start on Flip or Flop with then-husband Tarek El Moussa. The former couple worked on the show during their marriage — which lasted from 2009 to 2018 — and after their divorce was finalized.

Christina moved on with Ant Anstead, which led to them collaborating on Christina on the Coast before their relationship fizzled out. After her divorce from Ant, 45, Christina moved on with Josh, 44. They even started as costars on The Flip Off before Josh left after one episode amid their split.

Christina subsequently filed for divorce in July 2024 and has since been dating Christopher LaRocca. She remained on the HGTV series solo but ultimately didn’t end up the winner during Wednesday’s finale.

The loss didn’t stop Christina from celebrating the chance to share the screen with Tarek, 43, and Heather.

“It’s much easier to film with someone when you don’t have to go home with them. It’s not usually a good idea to film with a spouse,” Christina exclusively told Us Weekly in January about working with Tarek and Heather. “Josh was very hard to film with. He didn’t get it.”

She continued: “He’d always get upset with me, like ‘Oh, my gosh, you did this’ or ‘You did that.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m making a TV show.’ Ultimately, it was better that he left after episode one because the show would’ve sucked.”

Christina made it clear that calling off the show was never an option.

“This isn’t Josh’s show. No one’s going to miss that he’s not in it,” she continued. “Josh is not a TV host, he’s not a house flipper, he’s not a designer. He was just my husband in it. With Tarek, we built everything together, and I still have respect for him. I have no respect for Josh.”

Josh addressed his departure with an Instagram Story post in January, which read, “TFW you can’t get enough ratings with celebrity 🏠designers so you manufactured drama with me, a nobody. @hgtv, you’ve changed.”

In response, Christina replied via her own Instagram Story, “Manufactured?! Pretty sure no one at Hgtv told you to be rude to me. … That was all natural.”
