Every 2025 TV Show With a Valentine’s Day Episode: The Rookie, More

For those TV fans who want some new Valentine’s Day content, The Rookie, Elsbeth and Yellowjackets are just some of the shows getting into a romantic mood this year.

Shifting Gears, which premiered in January, is exploring Matt’s (Tim Allen) personal life after his wife’s death. Allen previously told Us Weekly about the sitcom’s plans to explore his character in an unexpected light.

“From the very beginning, [the creative team has said] that we’ve never seen Tim Allen in a sitcom with a romantic interest. And I said, ‘Well, I’ve just lost my wife so I don’t see it.’ So I love where we are,” Allen told Us in January. “I said, ‘If it happens over time and happens organically with two people that do not get along then it is OK. I just am really cautious about this. I just want it to happen where it’s organic and proper.”

The actor was looking forward to finding common ground between the show and his life, adding, “This is a new character and it’s much closer to [who I am]. I’ve been through grief in my life with losing my father. I’ve been blessed to be a comedian and so that’s who this [character] is. If I did it again, I wanted to get as much closer to the [man] that I am.”

Meanwhile over on Yellowjackets, the show is returning with a time jump in the past. “One thing that’s always been important to us is that the timelines are really interconnected in terms of the characters and the totality of the characters and the consequences of what they went through didn’t end in the past,” creator Ashley Lyle told Entertainment Weekly in November 2024. “What we see is a continuation of some of the tensions and resentments that were building in season 2. And those really play a large part in how the girls continue to interact this season.”

‘Shifting Gears’ (ABC)

The sitcom is getting into Valentine’s Day with an episode where Matt’s visit to his late wife’s grave and sparks an unexpected connection in an unlikely place. Riley (Kat Dennings), meanwhile, has to help with a promotional video at the dance studio.

‘Elsbeth’ (CBS)

Sparks will fly between Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) and a handsome Scottish musician named Angus (Ioan Gruffudd) after he witnesses a murder through a video art installation.

‘The Rookie’ (ABC)

Tim (Eric Winter) and Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) get an unromantic assignment ahead of a charity gala where multiple relationships come to a head.

‘Yellowjackets’ (Showtime)

While the season 3 premiere isn’t necessarily Valentine’s Day-themed, there is something about our favorite cannibalism show returning on the day of love that puts Us in the mood for romance.
