Amy Schumer Recreates Iconic Trainwreck Knicks Dance 10 Years Later

It’s been ten years since Trainwreck was released — but Amy Schumer has still got it.

The comedian, 43, attended the New York Knicks vs. Los Angeles Lakers game at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, February 1, where she busted out moves from the 2015 film’s famed dance number.

In a video shared via YouTube by the NBA the following day, Schumer was captured channeling her Trainwreck character, Amy Townsend, as she hit the court with the Knicks City Dancers to recreate the romantic scene.

The footage showed Schumer, who appeared in the film alongside Bill Hader, watching the Knicks professional dancers arrive on the court as Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl,” the same track featured in Trainwreck, began to play across stadium speakers.

It’s not in Amy Schumer’s nature to hold anything back (we’ve all seen the 2015 movie Trainwreck), and her “Call Her Daddy” podcast appearance was no different. Podcast host Alex Cooper noted during the episode, released on Wednesday, January 22, that at the beginning of Schumer’s career, she was the “sex comic” in Hollywood. “Because […]

Appearing surprised initially, Schumer then delighted fans by jumping out of her seat to join the dancers as she slipped right back into her high knee-kicking, booty-shaking character. While Schumer didn’t appear in the same Knicks cheer outfit seen in the film, she did sport a Knicks sweater as she nailed every element of the original choreography.

The recreation drew a huge applause from the crowd, who received kisses blown from Schumer once the dance wrapped.

Fans of the stunt extended beyond the stadium, too, as Olivia Munn took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday to reshare the footage and praise the dance. “Oh my god I’m dead. This is so iconic I can’t take it @amyschumer,” Munn, 44, captioned her post, which showed fellow comedian Jillian Bell sitting beside Schumer at the game. (Schumer will appear alongside Bell, 40, in the upcoming film, Kinda Pregnant, released on Netflix on Wednesday, February 5.)

Trainwreck centered on the fictional Amy (Schumer), a promiscuous magazine writer, who falls in love with a sports doctor, Aaron Conners, played by Hader, 46. The film’s dance scene appears towards the end of the film after Amy (spoiler alert) loses Aaron’s affections and attempts to win them back again.

Schumer shared special memories from Saturday’s dance via Instagram on Sunday, captioning a carousel with, “Said go New York go New York go.” Multiple snippets from the routine were included, in addition to snaps of Schumer posing with Bell and her other Kinda Pregnant costars Will Forte and Brianne Howey.

Longtime Knicks supporter Spike Jonze also appeared in a selfie with Schumer, while celebrity followers of Schumer showed their support for the dance via the post’s comments section. “YES!” wrote Chelsea Handler, while Katie Couric commented, “So glad I was there to witness this! Go Amy! 😍”
