Josh Allen Says Hailee Steinfeld Has Been a ‘Huge Part’ of His Success
Josh Allen is one of the frontrunners for NFL MVP this season, and he credited his new fianceé, Hailee Steinfeld, with helping him get there.
“She’s been a huge part,” the Buffalo Bills quarterback, 28, told The Associated Press on Wednesday, December 18. “The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter.”
Allen added, “She’s just the best.”
The sentiment was shared by Allen’s teammate, Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins, who said “there’s something about” the stability that Steinfeld, 28, has been able to provide.
“When you’re in this world that we’re in, and a lot of people pulling at you and a lot of sources of ups and downs of a roller-coaster, and you have that one stable person that you can rely on and go home and hug and get a laugh no matter what, I think that’s dope,” Dawkins told the AP. “And that’s what I think is going on.”
The Bills, who clinched the AFC East division for a fifth consecutive season on December 1, return to action on Sunday, December 22 when they host the New England Patriots.
Allen proposed to Steinfeld on November 22, during the Bills’ bye week, after more than one year of dating. The couple announced their engagement a week later, with a simple post via Instagram.
“♾️ 11•22•24 ♾️,” Allen wrote alongside a picture from the oceanside proposal, which happened in Malibu.
During the Bills’ 35-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on December 1, Josh told Sunday Night Football sideline reporter Melissa Stark that Hailee was “very” surprised when he dropped to one knee, adding that the couple is “still figuring out” a wedding date.
In a couples Q&A for Steinfeld’s “Beau Society” newsletter after the engagement, Allen admitted he was “very nervous” she was going to find out about the proposal.
“It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you,” Allen explained. “Then, multiple times throughout the day a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”
Allen said he “couldn’t wait any longer” to pop the question and told Steinfeld he “can’t wait to start a family with you.”
“You said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun was out,” he recalled. “It feels unbelievable to be engaged to someone who is so special and loving and caring and gorgeous and fun and happy.”
