RHOSLC Stars React to Bronwyn Newport Claiming Todd Bradley Cheated
The ladies of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City have thoughts about newcomer Bronwyn Newport’s accusations that her husband, Todd Bradley, was previously unfaithful.
“I think a couple of things were happening for me that day. I do feel very isolated, I’m not getting along with really anybody,” Bronwyn, 39, said during the official RHOSLC: After Show, which aired on Wednesday, December 18. “My friendship with Lisa’s all but melted down. I have not made new friendships that have compensated or made up for that.”
She added, “I do feel very uncomfortable and I do feel like there’s a lot of negative things that are not true. It’s an odd feeling to always be defending myself against these accusations that I’m a gold digger and I don’t love my husband.”
According to Bronwyn, she wanted to “shock [her costars] into realizing they have no idea exactly who I am.”
On Wednesday’s episode, Bronwyn opened up about her marriage and claimed that her daughter once caught Todd, 65, having an affair via an iPad. (Bronwyn shares 18-year-old daughter Gwen with a past partner.)
“I did not see that coming,” Heather Gay said on the after show. “I didn’t see Bronwyn betraying her marriage and betraying Todd in that way ‘cause all I had ever seen and heard from her [is that] she kind of perpetuates this love affair story of their marriage. … I just thought, ‘I’m glad I’m not married.’”
Heather, 50, added, “I just wanted to cover her mouth and say, ‘Don’t say that about your husband if you want to go home with him tonight.’”
Mary Cosby concurred with Heather, while Lisa Barlow quickly realized that “this was something big.”
“I’ve never heard this before,” Lisa, 50, said. “I think a part of me was also like, ‘I wouldn’t share this with a group of girls I’m getting to know because they don’t know Todd.’ You’re subjecting him to judgment from a lot of people. Don’t say things you want to forget that everyone else will remember.”
For Angie Katsanevas, it was the “first time” she saw Bronwyn be vulnerable.
“And she cried,” Angie, 50, said. “That was the first time I thought, ‘This is the Bronwyn I like,’ because she’s not trying to act like a hardass, she’s not being crass, she’s not jabbing people left and right.”
Whitney Rose, for her part, thought it takes a “brave person” to share the whole truth.
“I was very appreciative that you actually were able to let your guard down and share because those are the moments that we grow and bond,” Whitney, 38, told Bronwyn on the after show. “I don’t want to be friends with people if I don’t know them [or] what’s going on in their life. No one’s marriage is perfect. Every marriage has its ups and downs.”
Despite being so candid about her relationship on screen, Bronwyn spoke to Us Weekly earlier this month about Todd’s uncomfortable reaction to showcasing their marriage on the Bravo hit.
“Todd definitely doesn’t wish I didn’t do the show. I don’t think I realized as we were filming how uncomfortable he was on camera,” Bronwyn exclusively told Us at DIRECTV’s “Christmas at Kathy’s” party in Los Angeles. “So much of what’s good between Todd and I is really private between Todd and I knew that wasn’t being necessarily filmed to be shown. I didn’t realize how harsh it looked or how kind of stabby my self-deprecating humor could be.”
Bronwyn further explained that both she and Todd have “made some changes” since watching back episodes of RHOSLC.
“There is still more talk about my marriage to come in upcoming episodes and that will be difficult to watch back,” Bronwyn added. “I really confided in the ladies about some old stuff that’s going on between him and I and maybe we weren’t in a place for me to confide in them quite yet. So, that’s always on me. It’s definitely not about Todd. We’re happy. I love him to death.”
Bronwyn further teased that this season “won’t be the last you’ll see of Todd.”
“If I’m back [next season], Todd will support me,” she teased to Us.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET. The official after show airs on BravoTV.com, Peacock and YouTube.
