Donnie Wahlberg Adds Jenny McCarthy for Very Scary People Spinoff

Donnie Wahlberg is back in action as the host of Very Scary People — and come 2025, his wife, Jenny McCarthy, will be joining him for a spinoff special.

Us Weekly can exclusively confirm that Very Scary People is returning to Investigation Discovery for season 6 beginning on Sunday, December 15.

“This season we’re diving deeper into each case, sharing raw, first-person accounts from those directly involved,” Wahlberg, 55, said in a press release. “It’s more personal, more emotional and resonates on a whole new level.”

In Us’ exclusive first look at the new season, the case of Anthony Sowell is the first to be investigated. Sowell lured women to his home in Cleveland during the early 2000s before torturing, raping and murdering them, earning him the nickname The Cleveland Strangler. (In 2011 he was sentenced to death after murdering 11 women. He died in prison in 2021 at the age of 61 after getting ill.)

“Anthony was transformed into the devil,” a woman says of the killer in the trailer for the new season. “His eyes were black, like he was a demon.”

The season will also dive deeper into the cases of a serial killer who posed as an FBI informant, a drug kingpin who wreaked havoc in New York City, a bodybuilding gang and a boxing star who became a killer.

“Dead men tell no tales,” one woman warned in the trailer. A detective explained that during one of the investigations they “had no idea what pandora’s box we were about to open up.”

The trailer also showed interviews with victims of the crimes, who described the criminals as “twisted, evil people.”

“What kind of world do we live in that this can happen?” a man asked at the end of the trailer, teasing even more haunting stories.

In addition to hosting and working as an executive producer on Very Scary People, Wahlberg will team up with McCarthy, 52, for a one-hour spinoff called Very Scary Lovers. The couple will cohost the special, which airs on Sunday, February 2.
