Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Ex Ryan Says She ‘Was All I Ever Wanted’
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s estranged husband, Ryan Anderson, is opening up about the one-time couple’s ongoing divorce.
“I just want to say, was I given a choice? After what has happened, she hasn’t really given me any other option, but to try and move on,” Anderson, 38, exclusively tells Us Weekly via text message. “I married her because I wanted to spend my life with her. Gypsy was all I ever wanted.”
Gypsy Rose, 33, and Anderson tied the knot in 2022 while she was incarcerated for the murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. Gypsy Rose and then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn were arrested in 2015 after Dee Dee was found dead with multiple stab wounds at the age of 48.
Gypsy Rose and Godejohn, now 34, admitted to planning to murder Dee Dee, who allegedly abused her daughter throughout childhood. Gypsy Rose pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Godejohn was given a life sentence, while Gypsy Rose was granted parole in September 2023.
Gypsy Rose was released in December 2023, quickly reuniting with Anderson. Several months later, Gypsy Rose filed for divorce in April and reconciled with ex-fiancé Ken Urker. The pair are now expecting their first baby, a daughter, with a paternity test recently confirming that Urker is the father.
“Ken is going to be an incredible dad, and we are so excited to welcome our baby girl into the world,” Gypsy Rose wrote via Instagram earlier this week.
While the Life After Lock Up star has moved on from Anderson, a source tells Us that they are sporadically in contact.
“Gypsy and Ryan are in touch from time to time. It’s a random text message here and there,” the insider tells Us. “She actually sent him a message saying she wanted to apologize for treating him the way she did. They don’t live close to each other so they don’t run into each other, which makes it easier.”
According to the insider, Anderson has also “moved on.”
“He still has feelings for her, but he’s not going to get back together with her,” the source notes. “He’s moved on but not dating. He was hurt at first. but he’s fine. He isn’t heartbroken anymore.”
Anderson is primarily preoccupied with his job as a teacher as well as a newfound career on social media.
“He has a big social media following and actually has been making money off TikTok and made money from the TV show, so he’s in a better place today,” the insider adds.
