Erin Foster Tells Adam Brody About Being Ignored by ‘The OC’ Cast
Decades before the success of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, creator Erin Foster and series star Adam Brody crossed paths on The OC — whether he remembers her or not.
During a recent episode of “The World’s First Podcast,” which she cohosts with sister Sara Foster, Erin, 42, spoke with Brody, 44, about her experience on the set of the popular teen drama, which Brody starred on for all four seasons until the series wrapped in 2007.
In the interview, Brody admitted that he never knew Erin had appeared on The OC, saying, “I assumed it was Sara.” Erin joked in response, “I don’t know what’s the bigger insult, not knowing I was on it or thinking it was Sara.”
“I was trying to be an actress,” Erin, who noted her scenes weren’t with Brody, continued. “I had red hair and a different nose, so you don’t need to feel bad about not remembering who I was. We never worked together and I was bad. Like, I was truly bad in the show, and I had very minimal scenes and none of them were with you, they were all with Mischa [Barton], I think, and [Cam Gigandet as Kevin Volchek], the guy who played my boyfriend.”
She added that during short time she was on the show, she was “so low on the totem pole,” with Sara saying with a laugh that Erin wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone on the set.
Erin agreed, adding, “I was not allowed to talk to anybody on the set of The OC. I have one memory of someone coming into the makeup trailer and being like, ‘I’m ordering Nobu, who wants some?’ And they just walked right past me, like I was not allowed to put an order in.”
Brody joked in response, “I don’t think I ever got Nobu on The OC.”
Erin continued, “I really didn’t want you to find out about this because I didn’t want you to lose respect for me being a loser guest star on The OC when I was trying to get you to trust me with this piece of art that we were gonna do together.”
Brody, who plays the hot rabbi opposite Kristen Bell’s agnostic sex podcaster in the romantic comedy series, took it all on the chin, telling Erin, “There’s so many people that I’ve worked with that have usurped me. And now you’re one of them.”
