Below Deck’s Sandy Breaks Silence on Lee Calling Her His Least Favorite

Captain Sandy Yawn broke her silence about Captain Lee Rosbach‘s recent dig — when he publicly called her his “least favorite” from the Below Deck franchise.

“I don’t know what to say,” Sandy, 59, admitted during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at Hayu FanFest in London on Saturday, October 26. “I don’t know what I did.”

Sandy noted that she had no ill will toward Lee, 74, adding, “I wish him well.”

Earlier this month, Lee shocked fans when he was asked to pick his least favorite Below Deck star and he said Sandy’s name without hesitation.

Viewers have had a front row seat to some of the biggest reality TV feuds since the Below Deck franchise debuted. The show’s spinoff series Below Deck Mediterranean shocked viewers when Hannah Ferrier and Captain Sandy Yawn‘s inability to see eye to eye turned into the most memorable firing to date. Since the captain joined […]

“My least favorite? Captain Sandy. And we all know why. I don’t like her,” Lee revealed in social media footage from his Nightcap tour. “Normally I don’t have to like people to work with them, I can work with almost anyone. I don’t have to like them.”

Lee’s issue with Sandy appeared to be based on their professional interactions. “But if they do their job — keyword do your job — do it properly and I can put up with almost anything. Don’t do your job and then pretend to be something you’re not.”

The crowd appeared shocked at Lee’s comments, but Bravo fans are familiar with the back and forth between the costars. During season 10 of Below Deck, which aired in 2022, Sandy filed in for Lee amid his health setbacks. Lee appeared grateful for Sandy’s help, which also marked the first captain crossover in Below Deck history.

Off screen, however, their dynamic took an unexpected turn when Lee doubted Sandy’s leadership. He specifically questioned why he was only learning about some of Sandy’s decisions — including firing Camille Lamb and Alissa Humber — while watching the show.

Captain Sandy has found herself caught up in several feuds with her Below Deck costars through the years. Viewers were introduced to Sandy when she replaced Captain Mark Howard on Below Deck Mediterranean in 2017. The Florida native quickly initially had a friendly onscreen relationship with costar Hannah Ferrier — but it didn’t take long for […]

“Not at all, [Camille] deserved what she got. That was never my issue. So many people can’t see that, and I’m sorry for that,” he wrote via X in January 2023. “I didn’t want [Sandy] to ask permission, just wanted the update, that quick call you mentioned, good manners.”

Lee was asked about his choice to air out his issues online, replying to a fan, “She did it on TV in front of how many people with out consulting me. That doesn’t sound very private to me at all.”

Sandy later revealed she was just as in the dark about her public drama. “I’m not in his shoes. I don’t know what’s going on mentally. I can only imagine,” Sandy exclusively told Us in February 2023. “After seeing the condition Captain Lee was in [during season 10] — I went back to the gym and started doing Pilates. I’m a lot younger — 20 years younger — I honestly don’t wanna be that.”

The Below Deck Mediterranean star tried to contact Lee to work out their issues, adding, “I tried to call him. I am just so grateful to be alive because I almost died so many times. I have no enemies. I’m here to love and live and that’s it. Like I love puppies, I love people and I love life.”

Lee offered an update on where he and Sandy stand now earlier this year.

“We do things differently and there’s certain things we don’t see eye to eye on. But I think that is true of any profession,” he said on the “Amy and T.J.” podcast in April. “It is fine. We don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things. But she has a job to do and I commend her for her achievements.”

When asked whether he is friends with Sandy, Lee replied, “No. But I am fine with that. There’s a lot of people I don’t like but I respect them.”
