Sister Wives Recap: Robyn, Other Wives Describe Kody’s ‘Murder Face’

Robyn Brown is the only spouse left standing after Kody Brown’s three splits — but she can still laugh with his exes about his “scary” facial expressions.

“He really doesn’t seem like the happy person that he used to be,” Meri Brown said during the Sunday, October 27, episode of Sister Wives, referring to Kody, 55, whom she officially left in January 2023 after more than 30 years together.

Kody confessed to the cameras, “I’m angry, you know. It’s not that I’m grumpy or yelling or doing something, it’s that I have resting a—hole face.”

That stern look is something Kody’s wives, past and present, know all too well. (Prior to splitting from first wife Meri, Kody and third wife, Christine Brown, split in November 2021. Second wife Janelle Brown confirmed her separation from him in December 2022.)

Sister Wives’ Robyn Brown revealed that her relationship with Kody Brown has been severely impacted by their family turmoil — and she doesn’t know what will happen next. “I feel very unsteady,” Robyn, 44, said on the Sunday, October 1, episode of the TLC series. “In all reality, Kody is even being different. I don’t […]

“Kody’s always been kind of intense, even when he’s just talking seriously, you know, he tends to have this face,” Janelle, 55, said, scrunching her nose and furrowing her brow.

Robyn, who has been married to Kody since 2014, completely understands that expression.

“I call it his murder face. I hate it,” she confessed, noting, “You can’t use the murder face [on] the kids just [saying] like, ‘Get in your pajamas.’ I’m like, ‘That’s too scary. Take it back a notch. Lift the eyebrows.’ OK [now say], ‘Get in your pajamas.’”

During the episode, Janelle and Meri, 53, also agreed on the absurdity of their former spouse when it comes to how he is now describing their respective marriages. (Each woman was spiritually married to Kody for three decades.)

“I’m guilty of marrying people I wasn’t in love with,” Kody claimed. The statement didn’t jive with Janelle, who told the cameras, “I just think that he has amnesia when it comes to the past because you just can’t keep up that kind of pretense for 20 years.”

She explained, “I know what happened. He can say whatever he wants. It’s fine because I just don’t care anymore.”

Justin Stephens/Discovery Kody Brown got pensive about the splitting of his “big” plural family during the latest episode of Sister Wives — and questioned whether he could truly be monogamous with Robyn Brown. “It’s a weird place to be, where you had this big family and it’s a big thing,” Kody, 54, noted in a […]

Meri had a similar outlook to Kody’s “current theme” about his past relationships and the alleged lack of love. “It’s getting to the point that it’s annoying,” she said, adding, “Gosh, Kody, just man up and be honest.”

While Kody maintained that he was in loveless unions with Meri, Janelle and Christine, 52, he had a good time helping Meri move out of her house in Arizona following the termination of their marriage.

“It’s interesting to me that Meri and I are safe enough with each other right now to joke around,” he said. “There’s a burden that’s been lifted somehow or another, at least in this moment.”

Kody noted that after all the heartbreak he was ready to move forward. “I’ve been wearing my pain on my sleeve for two to three years. I really am tired of the pain,” he confessed. “Maybe it’s really a good idea just to lighten up.”

Kody added, “I’ve already gone through, like, the destruction of my family. But who cares? It’s been dark but I will move through this.”

Sister Wives airs on TLC Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
