Ric Flair’s Stepson Sebastian Kidder Died by Suicide at 24

Pro wrestler Ric Flair’s stepson, Sebastian Kidder, died by suicide. He was 24.

“I am devastated and shocked,” Kidder’s mother, Wendy Barlow, told TMZ in a statement on Sunday, October 27. “This is an epidemic with your young men and mental health.”

Further details about Kidder’s death have not been shared.

Kidder is the son of Barlow and a past partner. She later married Flair, 75, in 2018 after many years together. The WWE legend has not publicly addressed his stepson’s death.

Wrestling fans have had to mourn many tragic and surprising deaths including athletes such as Sara Lee and Brodie Lee over the years. In October 2022, Cory Weston broke his silence about his wife’s sudden death in an emotional tribute. “I loved you from the first moment I saw you. I would always say that […]

Kidder was a musician, who released his debut album Under the Moon earlier this year.

“[The album was inspired by] a lot of pain, a lot of suffering, a lot of crying in a corner and just hoping that words come out. No, I’m kidding,” Kidder said during a June appearance on Good Day Atlanta. “It’s actually very romance-filled, [that] is probably the core of the album. A lot of sexual energy [and] there’s a lot of lust in there, so something that people can relate to, for sure.”

He also detailed how he started pursuing music.

“I was dating this girl for a while and, I don’t know, one of those days I just went in the studio and recorded a cover for her and it wasn’t an original or anything,” Kidder recalled. “I just thought it’d be a nice gesture … but then my mom got a hold of it and she actually just was like, ‘Woah, this is really good.’ So she starts sending it around to people, and then you get traction and just roll with it.”

Not only was Barlow her son’s No. 1 supporter, but so was Flair as well.

“A lot of advice, for sure. That’s the interesting thing growing up with Ric Flair as a stepdad, [he] was very different and very unique. I mean you go out to a family meal and you’re just surrounded by fans. You’re already exposed to that [by] an early age, everybody coming up, wanting pictures and autographs. I mean, what kid has, like, Post Malone coming over for dinner?”

Hollywood mourned many celebrities in 2024. Speed Racer star Christian Oliver (born Christian Klepser) died at the age of 51 during a fatal plane crash on January 5. Oliver was traveling home from a Caribbean vacation with his two daughters — Madita and Annik, whom he shared with wife Jessica Klepser — on January 4. […]

Flair also has four children from a past relationship, including wrestler daughter Charlotte.

“It’s easy to say you want to be thought of as the best father that ever lived, but I wasn’t,” Flair recalled in a 2017 documentary for ESPN. “And I certainly wasn’t the best husband. So I guess I’ll just have to settle for wanting to be thought of as the greatest wrestler and the most entertaining wrestler that ever lived.”
