Billy Joel, Daughters Meet Taylor Swift as She Breaks His Major Record

Billy Joel is proud to celebrate Taylor Swift’s success, even when she breaks his record.

“Our family attended the Taylor Swift concert at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami where Billy Joel/Elton John’s ‘Face to Face’ concert previously held the seating record,” Joel, 75, captioned an Instagram post on Monday, October 21.

The first photo showed Joel alongside his wife Alexis Roderick — who was standing next to Swift’s mom, Andrea — and his two youngest daughters, Della Rose, 9, and Remy Anne, 6. In the second photo, the family posed alongside Swift backstage. (Joel is also a father to Alexa Ray, 38, whom he shares with ex Christie Brinkley.)

“Taylor’s second concert at Hard Rock Miami set a new record and ushered in a new era at Hard Rock Stadium,” Joel’s caption continued. “We were so happy to be a part of this record-breaking concert! Plus, we got to celebrate with her mama.”

Not only is Billy Joel the piano man, but he’s also a dedicated family man. Two years after parting ways with his first wife, Elizabeth Weber, Joel tied the knot with actress and model Christie Brinkley in 1985. That same year, the duo became parents with the birth of their daughter, Alexa. Joel and Brinkley […]

He concluded: “Celebrating someone’s success does not negate your own. She is showing our girls all that is possible. Onward and upward #swifties.”

Joel performed at the Hard Rock Stadium alongside Elton John in 1995, bringing in a crowd of 103,694 people over two nights. Swift kicked off the second leg of her U.S. Eras Tour on Friday, October 18. After two shows, she brought in over 122,000 concertgoers — beating the record. (Swift performed in Miami for a total of three shows, coming to an end on Sunday, October 20.)

While Joel was quick to celebrate Swift’s success at the stadium, it’s important to note that he still holds a major record at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The “My Life” musician played his 150th show at the famed venue this past July. This marked the final concert of his record-breaking residency at the arena.

His daughters both joined him on stage for the major milestone with Della Rose and Remy Anne wearing matching pink dresses to celebrate their dad, who received another banner that hangs in the venue.

Musicians and singers are used to basking in the glow of fame — but sometimes they share the spotlight with their kids. When Superstars like Beyoncé, Pink and Kelly Clarkson hit the road, they have been known to bring their children along for the ride. Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy, 12,  joined her mother onstage in […]

“I wanna thank them for coming for this long, for this much,” he told the crowd at the time. “It’s hard to end even at 150 lifetime shows.”

While his Madison Square Garden shows have come to an end, that doesn’t mean Joel has any plans to stop performing any time soon.

He’s set to hit the stage with Sting for two more shows — one in Texas and a second in Las Vegas — before the end of the year.
