Love Is Blind’s Alex Byrd Responds to Tim Godbee’s Breakup Claims

Love Is Blind star Alex Byrd is sharing her side of breaking up with Tim Godbee.

Alex and Tim, both 33, got engaged inside the Love Is Blind season 7 pods, but their relationship was short-lived. Earlier this week, Tim took to social media to claim that Alex never put “serious effort” into their romance and insinuated that the situation was “toxic.”

“It’s been unfortunate to see a lot of things Tim has been posting over the last 24 hours, but it wasn’t a mutual decision,” Alex told Vulture in an interview published on Friday, October 18. “That was his own decision. Tim was very, very strategic on what he talked about in front of the camera, and I allowed that because if he doesn’t want to share something, he doesn’t have to.”

She continued, “But I will say, if something bothered him, he would not address it until after we got off camera. And sometimes it would turn into an argument, because when you come from two different worlds, you might take something a different way, and now we’re just trying to understand each other.”

Love Is Blind star Tim Godbee revealed why he decided to call off his engagement to Alex Byrd ahead of their wedding day. “When love, authenticity and respect are consistently met with lack of effort, constant antagonizing and lack of respect for your physical and mental space, it must be met with firm and unmistakable […]

Many of Tim and Alex’s disagreements were not featured on Love Is Blind, including one tough verbal fight on their Mexican vacation. (Tim refused to disclose the issue on camera, but it was allegedly so upsetting that he refused to share a hotel room with Alex.)

“That was one of the things we were not compatible with, was him understanding that there are two people in this relationship,” Alex told the outlet. “It’s not just your way or the highway, or your opinion is what matters. It’s both.”

In Tim’s social media allegations about the breakup, he also claimed that he felt manipulated by Alex’s intentions. She debunked the accusations while speaking with Vulture.

Since the premiere of Love Is Blind in 2020, fans have wondered how effective the concept of speed-dating without seeing the other person actually is. The show, which has aired seven seasons and spawned multiple international iterations, follows singles dating in pods over the course of 10 days. The kicker, of course, is that they […]

“All of that is not true,” Alex stressed. “I feel like he’s just having a moment because now he’s starting to receive hate. And it’s unfortunate because this is a really harsh world, and to receive any type of hate can be really intense. You just have to be mentally prepared. I don’t wish that on anyone, especially him. However, I think the way he’s handling it is not helping.”

Alex has since moved on, now understanding that she and Tim are simply “not compatible” as partners.

Once they broke up, Alex returned Tim’s bracelet — an engagement gift that previously belonged to his deceased sister — at his insistence, and she recalled the moment feeling like “a punch to the gut.”

Alex and Tim are no longer in touch.

“I do not talk to him at all,” Alex stated to Vulture.

Love Is Blind is now streaming on Netflix. New episodes drop Wednesdays.
