Travis Kelce Addresses Claim He’s Not a ‘Real’ Cleveland Guardians Fan
After being called out on social media, Travis Kelce made it abundantly clear that he still reps his hometown.
Kelce, 34, pledged his sporting allegiance to the Cleveland Guardians, despite getting criticized for not wearing any of their gear when he attended their playoff game in NYC on Monday, October 14 with girlfriend Taylor Swift.
“😂😂😂I’ve been a cleveland sports fan my entire life…,” Kelce posted via X on Thursday, October 17. “Make it back to countless amount of games over the years both Guards and Cavs just to enjoy these memories with my friends and family, WIN OR LOSE!!… and I don’t wear Cleveland gear one time 😂and all of a sudden I’m not a real fan?!”
The Kansas City Chiefs star added, “Ask anybody that was in or around that suite on game 1 who I was cheering for, they’ll let you know I was there for the @CleGuardians.”
Kelce, who grew up in Cleveland Heights, attended Game 1 of the American League Championship Series at Yankee Stadium — his first time at the hallowed venue — with Swift, 34, by his side.
After dropping Games 1 and 2 in New York, the Guardians won Game 3 in dramatic, walk–off fashion on Wednesday, which was cause for celebration for Kelce.
“Playoff baseball baby!!! @CleGuardians have the city absolutely ROCKIN TONIGHT!! What a game! 🔥🔥🔥,” he posted via X.
As for his lack of Guardians apparel at the game Monday, the team was in a forgiving mood — but offered a suggestion.
“We’ll see you next time in full uniform though, right?,” the Guardians official X account replied to Kelce.
Game 4 of the ALCS between the Guardians and Yankees is Friday, October 18 in Cleveland.
Kelce opened up about his experience at the game on the Wednesday, October 16 episode of his “New Heights” podcast and admitted he had “mixed feelings” about attending and supporting the Guardians.
“I was there trying to have some fun with Tay and everybody, all our friends,” Kelce said. “We had an unbelievable crew with us and hanging with us. It was fun, even though the Guards couldn’t pull it off. It was still an exciting, exciting game. It was cool to see Yankee Stadium ’cause I’ve always wanted to see that thing in person — in a playoff game, in a hostile environment — and it didn’t disappoint, man.”
