Bachelor Nation’s Josh Seiter Faked Being Transgender as ‘Experiment’
Bachelor Nation’s Josh Seiter is now saying that he pretended to be transgender for months as an experiment.
“For the last five months, I’ve been conducting a social experiment online to expose how gullible and how delusional the left is,” Seiter, 37, said during a Tuesday, October 15, appearance on the “Prime Time With Alex Stein” podcast. “The whole idea of postmodern gender ideology is ridiculous and absurd, and I tried to be the most extreme version of it and take it to its logical end to show how ridiculous it is that people can actually believe that biological men are magically transformed into women because they are having a gender crisis.”
Seiter, who was eliminated during week 1 of Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette in 2015, first posted about being transgender in May.
“I no longer want to hide who I am, and I no longer want to deal with the mental turmoil that comes with suppressing such an important [part] of me,” he shared in an Instagram statement at the time. “So, I ask for your thoughts and prayers — and patience — as I transition.”
Seiter then began posting videos of himself wearing makeup, jewelry and women’s clothing and discussing the transgender experience in a manner that made some people question whether he was mocking it. In a video shared earlier this week, he said he had “thought long and hard, no pun intended” about whether to have bottom surgery before deciding against it.
“Our manhood does not negate our womanhood,” he said in the clip.
Seiter’s videos have sparked backlash online.
“Seriously sad how you make such a mockery of transitioning. It’s harmful to a community that already faces so many hurdles to just live their authentic lives,” one Instagram user commented on his latest video.
“Your behavior throughout your ‘transition’ was offensive and appalling,” another person chimed in after Seiter confirmed that his transition was a hoax.
This is not the first time that Seiter has generated controversy. He was accused of faking his own death in August 2023 after a statement alleging that he had died was shared via his Instagram account. Seiter claimed his account had been hacked and dismissed allegations that he’d posted the statement himself for attention.
“People like to accuse me of lots of things,” he said during an August 2023 appearance on Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon’s “Almost Famous” podcast. “I kind of think it’s funny.”
Seiter also raised eyebrows by sharing screenshots in April 2023 of an email that Gypsy Rose Blanchard allegedly sent him after he sent her flirty messages.
“I may look cute, but I have a smartass mouth, and I’m not afraid to tell you to go f— yourself,” Blanchard, 33, allegedly wrote, adding that she was married and people like Seiter “disgust” her.
Seiter wrote in a subsequent Instagram Story, “I am heartbroken that things didn’t work out between me and Gypsy but I will not give up on finding love.”
