Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’ Are Back on the Charts for Fall

What does fall mean to you? New knitwear and more pumpkin spice lattes than anyone should be able to stomach while rewatching Gilmore Girls for the seventh time? Well, if you’re a Taylor Swift fan, it also means it’s time to dust off her two leafiest albums again.

Since October kicked off, Swift’s Folklore and Evermore albums, both originally released in 2020, have climbed rapidly on the official Billboard charts — and it’s become a trend that happens at around this time every year, as Swifties old and new embrace some serious comfort-listening.

So far this season, Evermore has climbed by around 60 percent on multiple Billboard lists, peaking at No. 29 on the Top Album Sales chart, compiled from both sales and streams, as well as hitting No. 12 on the Vinyl Albums Chart and even making the top 20 for Alternative Albums and Rock and Alternative Albums. It amounts to around 3,000 copies sold in a week — and yes, that means there are 3,000 people in the country who didn’t already own it.

It’s a similar story for Folklore, which has rocketed up 13 spaces on the Billboard 200, ahead of much more recent releases by huge stars like Ariana Grande and Olivia Rodrigo.

Swift marked the milestone during her Eras Tour show in Hamburg, Germany, on Wednesday, July 24. The singer, 34, released her Grammy-winning pandemic album four years earlier. Both Folklore and Evermore have a cozy, folky vibe that makes them perfect listening at the time of year when you just want to hunker down at home under a blanket. And funnily enough, the entire world was hunkering down when the two sister titles first dropped — they were Swift’s surprise COVID-19 albums, released to provide some comfort for Swifties during the pandemic and going on to become massive critical and commercial successes.

When it was first released, Evermore debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and stayed there for a whole month, making it Swift’s eighth No. 1 album. Folklore, too, topped the chart, making Swift the first woman to have two No. 1 albums in the same year. And four years on, Swifties clearly aren’t bored of classic songs like “Champagne Problems,” “My Tears Ricochet” and “Willow.”

Naturally, Swift’s more recent releases, like 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department, are still on constant rotation for plenty of Swifties awaiting their next fix.

Swift currently has a few more days off before the Eras Tour gears up again in Miami on Friday, October 18, but it all proves that a passive income is very achievable — at least, if you happen to be the biggest pop star on the planet.
