Kelly Stafford Reacts to Matthew Stafford’s TV Debut

Matthew Stafford might have his post-football career lined up — and wife Kelly Stafford will be watching feverishly every step of the way.

The Los Angeles Rams quarterback, 36, appeared on Fox Sports’ NFL coverage on Sunday, October 13, during the bye week for his squad, and he earned the approval of some excited viewers back home.

Kelly shared a video of herself and the couple’s four daughters — twins Sawyer and Chandler, 7, Hunter, 6 and Tyler, 4 — watching Matthew walk into the Fox studio as anchor Charissa Thompson marveled at his “good hair.”

“You are hot,” Kelly captioned the clip. “And yes you have good hair 🤣.”

During the broadcast, Charissa, 42 — who has a yearslong friendship with Matthew and Kelly — gave a special shout-out to the Stafford kids.

“I would be remiss, though, if I didn’t say hello to your girls who are at home,” Charissa said. “Chandler, Sawyer, Huntie, Tyler. We love you.”

Kelly shared a video of the cute moment, which left huge smiles on all four girls’ faces.

“@charissajthompson making my girls’ day ❤️,” Kelly captioned the video.

Kelly, who married Matthew in 2015 after the couple met at the University of Georgia, gushed about the experience of seeing her husband make the transition from the football field to live TV — if only for a week.

“Something I didn’t think I would love so much…watching you on this show,” she shared via Instagram Story. “Less hits, more laughs, and no nerves for me. I mean it’s pretty great 🤣.”

Matthew also earned the praise of Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews, who uploaded a video of herself watching his on-air debut. “You look great, good job bud,” she narrated.

Longtime Fox Sports analyst and four-time Super Bowl champion Terry Bradshaw also gushed about Matthew’s performance.

The playbook for love! Matthew Stafford and wife Kelly Stafford’s romance started in college — and four kids later, they are still going strong. “Did y’all not notice how Matthew Stafford is perfect for this show?” Bradshaw, 76, said on air. “Here’s how: he got the point, delivered it in 20 seconds. Not a minute. 20 seconds. Nailed it, nailed it!”

Matthew has not announced any long-term broadcasting plans, and he will return to the field on Sunday, October 20, when the Rams host the Las Vegas Raiders. After the 2024-25 season, Stafford has two years remaining on his current contract.

Over the years, Kelly has candidly expressed how difficult it can be for her to watch Matthew play, especially as he’s gotten older. On her “The Morning After” podcast Tuesday, October 8, Kelly suggested her husband doesn’t get the same penalty calls as other quarterbacks in the league — which has begun taking its toll.

“I know when he comes home, the bruises, the swelling, it’s a lot right now,” she said. “He’s not young. Recovering from those hits can get tough.”
