3 Underrated New Netflix Shows I Can’t Wait to Watch This Weekend (December 5-7)

It’s not all about Stranger Things in the first week of December on Netflix. The streamer already has a fresh line of hit shows on demand to feed your bingeing needs.

What’s interesting is that the only Netflix original this week that’s had breakout success is a scandalous documentary miniseries.

That’s just one of Watch With Us‘ picks for the three underrated Netflix shows I can’t wait to watch this weekend.

The rest of our selections include a true crime miniseries from another streamer and a British drama that should appeal to fans of The Crown.

‘Love and Death’ (2023)

If you look closely at the graphic used for Love & Death on Netflix, you’ll notice that no one bothered to remove the HBO Max logo that appears next to the title. Regardless, this miniseries seems primed for a big performance on Netflix, if for no other reason than the star power of Elizabeth Olsen, Jesse Plemons, Krysten Ritter and Patrick Fugit.

This is a true crime story with Olsen in the lead as Candy Montgomery, a housewife in Texas during the ’80s who isn’t happy in her marriage with Pat Montgomery (Fugit). Candy notices that her neighbor, Allan Gore (Plemons), isn’t any happier in his marriage to Betty Gore (Lily Rabe), and they begin a clandestine affair that eventually runs its course. The affair may have been a crime of the heart, but the actual crime in this story doesn’t come until the affair is exposed. From there, it becomes a tale of murder and one of the most sensational trials of the ’80s.

Love & Death is streaming on Netflix.

‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’ (2025)

This documentary about Sean “Diddy” Combs is the first show to dethrone Stranger Things from its No. 1 slot on Netflix. Clearly, there’s a lot of interest in Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which was produced by Curtis “50 Cent”  Jackson. This may take Jackson’s trolling to new levels. Jackson primarily takes a behind-the-scenes role, as the show explores Combs’ meteoric rise in the music industry as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy.

For decades, Sean “Diddy” Combs was a powerful force in the music industry as a performer a record executive/producer. As Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, Combs was a superstar. Diddy had his run-ins with the law before, but none as serious as his 2024 arrest and subsequent federal trial and conviction. Now, Curtis “50 Cent” […]

It also spends a lot of time diving into the multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse, as well as the federal charges that ultimately led to Combs’ arrest, conviction and current incarceration. The series has its conclusion, but Combs can’t make much of a rebuttal while he’s serving his time.

Sean Combs: The Reckoning is streaming on Netflix.

‘Victoria’ (2016 – 2019)

Like her Doctor Who costar Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman followed the end of her time on that sci-fi series by landing a prestige British drama about a famous queen. Victoria cast Coleman in the lead as Queen Victoria, one of the longest-serving monarchs in British history. To put that in perspective, Victoria’s reign lasted six decades until she died in 1901, and the current king of England is only the sixth monarch of the country in the 124 years since then.

Victoria is primarily about the queen’s earliest years as the youngest woman in the history of the country to wear the crown. The show also chronicles her romance with her future husband, Prince Albert (Tom Hughes), and the challenges she faced while balancing her family and royal responsibilities.

Victoria is streaming on Netflix.
