Timothée Chalamet quickly became a household name thanks to his roles in Call Me by Your Name, Lady Bird and Little Women.
Born in New York City, Chalamet scored his first acting role in 2009 with a one-episode arc on Law & Order. Five years later, he made the move to the big screen and briefly appeared in Men, Women & Children. It didn’t take long before Chalamet started snagging leading roles opposite A-listers such as Armie Hammer (Call Me by Your Name), Laurie Metcalf (Lady Bird) and Steve Carell (Beautiful Boy), and he picked up countless awards along the way.
In 2021, news broke that Chalamet was tapped to star in the origin story of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory character Willy Wonka. The movie debuted two years later.
“[Wonka] was the most physically challenging project I’ve ever done,” he told Vanity Fair in December 2023. “I can’t say the singing and dancing comes easy. I’ve been around musical theater my whole life, and danced a little bit in high school, but this was on a different level. It’s different doing it on film. You’ve got to keep being in the center of the frame while dancing, you’ve got to rehearse for months, you’ve got to be on for every take.”
