A Christmas competition! Victoria Beckham and David Beckham battled it out trying to make the best gingerbread house with their daughter, Harper.
“It’s not about ‘taking part’, it’s about who wins,” the former Spice Girl, 48, wrote via her Instagram Story on Thursday, December 22. As Victoria filmed the family’s work in progress, David, 47, shared some unsolicited advice with her.
“I think you’re complicating yours, mine’s simple. Simplicity wins every time,” the former soccer player said. His wife shot back, “David’s actually eating more than [decorating].”
Panning the camera to show the various creations, the fashion designer complimented Harper, 11, on her work. “Here’s Harper’s, which looks amazing.” The youngest Beckham agreed, chiming in, “Mine is amazing.”
Victoria got into the competitive Christmas spirit, teasing her husband about having the superior finished product. “Harper’s obviously gonna be the best, but me and David, 100 percent I’m gonna win down. I’m not even quietly confident, I’m very confident,” she said.
Gingerbread decorating isn’t the only Christmas activity that the Beckhams go all out for. In December 2020, David posed a doll version of his wife next to the family’s Elf on a Shelf.
“Elf got a new BFF to work from home with,” the Inter Miami CF co-owner captioned an Instagram snap of the tableau.
Missing from the trio’s holiday crafting this year were the other three Beckham children: Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 20, and Cruz, 17. Victoria posed with Romeo, Cruz and Harper at a holiday party held at her flagship store in London earlier his month.
“Kisses from Dover Street! Love you #HarperSeven @RomeoBeckham @CruzBeckham💕 xx,” she captioned Instagram snaps from the evening.
Victoria and David — who tied the knot in July 1999 — are proudly hands-on when it comes to their parenting style.
“I’m up early working out, but one of us will do the school run and we always try to be home by dinnertime. We’re very strict about that when we’re in London. At 6 p.m. we are all together eating dinner [and] talking about our days. We communicate a lot,” the former pop star told Harper’s Bazaar in January 2020.
The television personality and the athlete are equally committed to their marriage. In January 2017, they renewed their wedding vows in an intimate ceremony.
“We’re a strong family unit. We’ve got strong parents. We were brought up with the right values,” David told BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs at the time. “Of course you make mistakes over the years, and we all know marriage is difficult at times. It’s about working through it. We know each other better than anybody. People have talked about, ‘Do we stay together because it’s a brand?’ Of course not. We stay together because we love each other, because we have four amazing children.”
The former midfielder tattooed the number “99” on his middle finger in July 2015, in honor of the year he married Victoria.
“99 was a good year for me,” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “Sixteen years ago today was our special day. 16 years on we have our beautiful children. Thank you for giving me our amazing little ones. Happy anniversary.”
