Chappell Roan’s ‘Hot to Go’ Leotard Sells for $89K in California Wildfire Relief Auction

One of Chappell Roan’s most memorable costumes has just been sold for charity, and it was more expensive than you might think.

After Roan, 27, danced in a vintage bodysuit and white knee-high boots in her “Hot to Go” music video, which was released in August 2023, the outfit was auctioned on Tuesday, February 25, to help those affected by the Los Angeles Wildfires.

Her costume featured a royal blue sequin body adorned with gold and red stars and a cutout on her chest. The pièce de résistance was her gold shoulder pads with fringe dangling from the design. Roan’s outfit, which was only expected to sell for $1,000 to $2,000 ended up going for $88,900 in Julien’s Auctions Give a Frock Auction, making it the top seller of the entire auction. Styled by Genesis Webb, Roan’s included boots featured short white heels that bucked up her leg.

In her music video, Roan paired the marching band-inspired look with nude matte tights and a full beat, including vibrant purple eyeshadow and extra-long lashes. Her makeup was finished with a matte red lip and rosy cheeks. Her crimson-red hair was styled in tight curls that were twisted into an updo.

Elsewhere in the auction, a blue Alaïa minidress sold for $34,925. The sleeveless bodycon silhouette was worn by Sabrina Carpenter in her “Please Please Please” music video, which also starred her now-ex, Barry Keoghan. The number was estimated to go from $1,500 to $2,500.

In the music video, Carpenter, 25, donned the frock while visiting Keoghan, 32, in jail.

According to the auction’s official website, 100% of the proceeds will be distributed directly to organizations on the front lines of wildfire relief: One Voice, Altadena Girls, Friends in Deed and the Pasadena Humane Society.
